Key Items S/S 17: Knitwear (Part 1/2)

Overview

Sports-inspired looks drive the season in a range of styles and silhouettes, from the long dress through to the fitted crew. Oversized, A-line and cropped proportions continue to be key, seen in smartened-up iterations or bold graphic looks.

The A-Line Tunic
The A-line silhouette is seen across a range of items, from the directional oversized sweater through to more commercial vest and halterneck styles. Extreme proportions, long dropped sleeves and tactile stitch and pattern are key for a statement look while the halterneck and vest style works well as an easy top in cotton and synthetic blends.

The Cropped Vest
The fitted bra and cropped vest top works as a versatile piece, moving away from the loungewear looks of previous seasons. It is paired with matching separates or layered over shirts for a smartened-up feel. Fully fashioned detailing in synthetic technical yarns and polished cotton blends work for a crisp finish.

The Graphic Dress
Ideal for summer, the long column dress continues to evolve, taking on an elongated silhouette and given a vivid graphic look. Seen in fitted, straight and empire-line silhouettes, it features bold variegated stripes in ribbed and textured knits. Soft cotton yarns and pointelle have a bohemian feel while synthetic yarns work for sportif styles.

The Slouchy Cardigan
Working well as transitional piece, slouchy cardigans are oversized and tactile. For a dressier feel, metallic yarns and graphic trims are made glamorous along with deep
V-necklines, button through, shawl collar and belted iterations. Team with smart day and party looks for both casual and formal wear in soft cotton and synthetic blend yarns.
